The flyer editor enforces layout protection through field-based element locking and role-based permissions. These controls limit who can modify the layout structure while allowing content updates to remain available.
Overview
In the flyer editor:
-
Element size and position can be locked at the field level.
-
Locked fields prevent movement or resizing in specific directions.
-
Content editing remains available regardless of layout locks.
-
Template access and editor controls depend on user role.
Field-Based Element Locking
Each element added in the new design includes four editable layout fields:
-
Height
-
Width
-
Horizontal Position
-
Vertical Position
Lock controls are visible only to global admins.
How to Access Lock Controls:
- Log in as a Global Admin
- Select a property flyer for which you want to lock elements
- Click “Create Flyer”

- Click the 3 dots > “Edit Template”

- Select an element on the flyer. You will see 4 check boxes to lock the selected element’s position and size, vertically and/or horizontally.
- Check the appropriate boxes > “Save Template.”

Lock Behavior
When a field is locked:
-
The field input is disabled.
-
The corresponding movement or resizing action is blocked in the editor.
Field-specific behavior:
-
Height locked → Vertical resizing is disabled
-
Width locked → Horizontal resizing is disabled
-
Vertical Position locked → Vertical movement is disabled
-
Horizontal Position locked → Horizontal movement is disabled
Unlocking a field immediately restores the associated behavior.
Movement and Resizing Rules
Element movement and resizing follow the active lock configuration:
-
Horizontal and Vertical Position locked
→ Element cannot move -
Vertical Position locked only
→ Element moves left and right only -
Horizontal Position locked only
→ Element moves up and down only -
Height locked
→ Vertical resizing is disabled -
Width locked
→ Horizontal resizing is disabled
These rules allow layout protection while preserving controlled flexibility.
Content Editing
Layout locks apply only to size and position.
Both admins and global admins can still:
-
Edit text
-
Replace images
Content updates remain available even when one or more layout fields are locked.
Global Template Permissions
Template management is restricted by role:
Global Admins
-
Create global templates
-
Edit global templates
-
Delete global templates
Admins
-
Use existing global templates to create property flyers
-
Cannot create, edit, or delete global templates
This ensures shared templates remain consistent while allowing reuse across properties.
Role-Based Interface Visibility
The flyer editor interface adjusts based on user role:
Global Admins
-
See both Pages and Content buttons
Admins
-
Do not see Content buttons
This limits advanced layout controls to global admins and simplifies the editor for admins.
Why This Matters
These controls:
-
Prevent unintended layout changes in shared designs
-
Allow safe content updates without affecting structure
-
Enforce a clear separation between layout control and content editing
-
Align editor functionality with user responsibility
