How to setup a custom domain

Your SharpLaunch property websites can either be linked to a custom domain, or they can reside on your company website.

Preview Site

When you initially create a “draft” website with SharpLaunch, you will have a temporary subdomain such as 123MainStreet.SharpLaunch.com. Your site will be visible and accessible with that URL until you are ready to use your own domain.

Sites with Existing Domains

Many clients might already own or have inherited websites with domains purchased from sites such as GoDaddy.com. If that’s the case, it’s easy to point your custom domain to your SharpLaunch websites.

You can read how to do this here: How to update your DNS settings for a custom domain

Purchase New Custom Domain

If you want to get a new domain name for your SharpLaunch property site(s) and use unique URLs, then you simply need to purchase it from a registry.

These are some domain registries we recommend:

Domain Setup

No matter which domain registry you choose, just be sure that you’ll have access to the DNS settings (specifically, the “A Record“) once the domain is purchased. These are the settings that will need to be adjusted to point the domain to your SharpLaunch site.

Updating the A Record is very simple, however, you may need to call the provider of your custom domain to ask them for help.

In addition, you will need to include the domain name of your property website in the CMS to make sure it is mapped correctly.
